Over the past two years of the pandemic the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association has experienced unprecedented growth and record levels of financial support from its publishing partners. As we look to the future of GLIBA and the ways we can best support our community of booksellers and responsibly spend the money we have generated, there is only one logical answer. Space exploration. We are in the early stages of development of the first independent bookselling regional association space shuttle. Space Shuttle Dana is expected to take its maiden voyage in the summer of 2026.
Executive Director of GLIBA, Larry Law, has said, “I believe we all begin our bookselling career with the hopes that one day we will visit space."
The Great Lakes Independent Bookseller's Association will officially expand its territory to include Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and the Moon.
If you are interested in supporting GLIBA’s journey into space, you can purchase a shirt where 100% of the proceeds will contribute to GLIBA’s space adventure.
We estimate that we only need to sell 3,000,000,000 shirts to fully fund our expedition and found the first independent bookstore in space.
