Thank You for Making the 2nd Annual Lit Show amazing!
On Friday August 2nd GLIBA and ArtBar hosted an evening of authors, booksellers, publishers, artists, the public and literary themed art at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora, IL. Thank you to everyone that attended. We kicked off the evening with author readings while a literary themed art show exhibited throughout the night. A huge thank you to Carol Anshaw, Joelle Charbonneau, Mikki Kendall, Renée Rosen, Peter Robertson, Laura Ruby and Michael Zapata.

After the success of GLIBA's first Lit Show we are doing it again! In partnership with ArtBar on Friday August 2nd, 2019 GLIBA will host an evening of authors, booksellers, publishers, artists and literary themed art at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora, IL.
The GLIBA is excited to partner again with ArtBar for a very special and unique event for GLIBA members to kick off the new season of ArtBar. ArtBar is an art collective based out of Aurora, IL that curates and exhibits a monthly themed pop-up art show. On Friday, August 2nd GLIBA is co-hosting a literary themed art show entitled "The Lit Show: Chapter 2". The event will be held at Two-Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora. If you are coming from Chicago the last stop on the BNSF train line drops you off at the door to the venue - which is awesome!
We have two events taking place that evening. A literary themed art exhibition will be showing the entire night and from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM live author readings will be taking place. The event is free to attend and open to all GLIBA members. No RSVP required.

Carol Anshaw is the author of Carry the One, Aquamarine, Seven Moves, and Lucky in the Corner. She has received the Ferro-Grumley Award, the Carl Sandburg Award, and a National Book Critics Circle Citation for Excellence in Reviewing. She lives in Chicago and Amsterdam.

Joelle Charbonneau has performed in opera and musical theatre productions across Chicagoland. She’s the author of the New York Times and USA Today best selling THE TESTING trilogy (THE TESTING, INDEPENDENT STUDY and GRADUATION DAY), the fantasy duology DIVIDING EDEN and EDEN CONQUERED as well as the YA thrillers, NEED and TIME BOMB. Mikki Kendall
Hood Feminism Viking Mikki Kendall is a writer, speaker, and blogger whose work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Guardian, TIME, Salon, Ebony, Essence, and elsewhere. An accomplished public speaker, she has discussed race, feminism, violence in Chicago, tech, pop culture, and social media on NPR's Tell Me More, Al Jazeera's The Listening Post, BBC Women's Hour, Huffington Post Live, as well as at universities across the country. A veteran, she lives in Chicago with her family.

Renée Rosen is the bestselling author of historical fiction. Her novels include PARK AVENUE SUMMER, WINDY CITY BLUES, WHITE COLLAR GIRL, WHAT THE LADY WANTS and DOLLFACE. Peter Robertson was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. After traveling in the States, he settled in Chicago, where he has been a book and music reviewer for daily papers and magazines. Robertson’s mystery trilogy, the “Frost Chronicles,” follows Tom, an erstwhile businessman and immigrant Scotsman, as he travels to uncover mysteries he stumbles upon. Scheduled for October 2019 publication, Robertson’s latest novel Conclusion applies an alternate world premise and literary-thriller tinge to an underlying mystery. Conclusion explores the nature of aging in society, in the context of a thriller that places two ordinary people in a race against time, revealing secrets and sinister forces in a remote wilderness.

Laura Ruby is the author of some of the most acclaimed novels for children and teens in recent memory, including the Printz Award-winning and National Book Award finalist Bone Gap, the ALA BFYA York series, the Edgar-nominated mystery Lily's Ghosts, and the Book Sense Pick Good Girls, among others. Michael Zapata Michael Zapata is a founding editor of MAKE: A Literary Magazine. He is the recipient of an Illinois Arts Council Award for Fiction; the City of Chicago DCASE Individual Artist Program award; and a Pushcart Nomination. As an educator, he taught literature and writing in high schools servicing drop out students. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa and has lived in New Orleans, Italy, and Ecuador. He currently lives in Chicago with his family.
