A little about the program
The Great Lakes Great Reads program is an annual program to recognize excellence in writing for books about or written by authors with ties to the Great Lakes region. The awards given annually are for Adult and Children's Books.
Eligible titles must be:
- Frontlist titles
- Published between June 1, 2015 and May 31, 2016
- Either by an author with ties to the states in the region (IL, IN, KY, MI, OH) or set in those states
Self-published books may be submitted if they are carried at a major distributor (Baker & Taylor, Ingram, or Partners).
Nominations many be submitted throughout the year, but must be submitted by April 15, 2016.
A committee will review these nominations and produce a shortlist of titles. The shortlist will be announced May 9th, and GLIBA store members vote to determine the final titles. The winners will be announced June 10th. The GLGR awards will be presented at the Heartland Fall Forum in the fall of each year. The HFF in 2016 will be at The Depot in Minneapolis, MN.
