Great Lakes Great Reads
The Great Lakes Great Reads program is an annual program to recognize excellence in writing for books about or written by authors with ties to the Great Lakes region. The awards given annually are for Adult and Children's Books.
Eligible titles must be:
- Frontlist titles
- Either written by an author with ties to the states in the region (IL, IN, KY, MI, OH) or set in those states
Self-published books may be submitted ONLY if they are carried at a major distributor (Baker & Taylor or Ingram, ).
A committee will review these nominations and produce a shortlist of titles.
The nomination process for 2017 is closed. Ballots must be submitted by June 30th, 2018. The winners will be announced July 5th. Awards will be presented at the Heartland Fall Forum at the Awards Dinner at the Westin Lombard on October 11th.
The nominations for 2018 are now open. Eligible titles must be published between June 1, 2017 and May 31, 2018. Nominations may be submitted throughout the year, but must be submitted by April 24, 2018. The shortlist will be announced May 9th, and GLIBA store members vote to determine the final titles. The winners will be announced June 13th. The GLGR awards will be presented at the Heartland Fall Forum in the fall of each year. The HFF in 2018 will be October 3rd-5th at The Depot in Minneapolis MN.
